Native to Northeastern parts of the United States and hardwood forests across Japan, China, and Europe the Maitake is a strong and flavourful mushroom often added in small amounts to recipes.
Despite its short growing window which is later on in the season (September to late October), it's available here in dried form with a 6-month shelf life, you'll be able to reach for the Maitakes all year round!
